Elbow pain might not sound like a big deal until you're living with it. Suddenly, shaking hands is uncomfortable, lifting a coffee cup sends a shot of pain down your forearm, and swinging a tennis racket or throwing a ball is completely out of the question. The elbow is involved in almost everything your arm does, which means when something goes wrong there, it affects a lot more than just the joint.

At Paradise Chiropractic, Dr. Kadri sees elbow pain in athletes, desk workers, tradespeople, and everyone in between. The cause varies widely depending on how the elbow is being used, which is why a thorough evaluation is always the starting point.

What's Causing Your Elbow Pain?

Elbow pain is one of those complaints where the location of the pain tells you a lot about what's going on. Some of the most common conditions Dr. Kadri sees include:

  • Lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow, causing pain and tenderness on the outer elbow from overuse of the forearm extensors. Despite the name, it affects far more people who have never picked up a racket than those who have

  • Medial epicondylitis, commonly known as golfer's elbow, causing pain on the inner elbow from overuse of the forearm flexors, common in throwing athletes, golfers, and people who perform repetitive gripping tasks

  • Olecranon bursitis causing swelling and pain at the bony point of the elbow from direct impact or prolonged pressure

  • Ulnar nerve entrapment, sometimes called cubital tunnel syndrome, producing pain, numbness, or tingling on the inner elbow and into the ring and pinky fingers

  • Radial tunnel syndrome causing a deep, aching pain in the outer forearm just below the elbow

  • Elbow sprains and ligament injuries from falls, contact sports, or throwing

  • Referred pain from the cervical spine that travels down the arm and presents as elbow pain

Tennis elbow and golfer's elbow in particular are among the most stubborn conditions Dr. Kadri treats. They tend to linger because the tendons involved have poor blood supply, which slows the natural healing process. This is also why they respond so well to shockwave therapy, which stimulates healing directly in the tissue.

How Dr. Kadri Treats Elbow Pain

Every elbow pain patient at Paradise Chiropractic starts with a thorough evaluation that includes orthopedic testing of the elbow, an assessment of the cervical spine and shoulder for referred pain or contributing dysfunction, and a review of the activities and movement patterns that are loading the elbow.

From there, Dr. Kadri builds a personalized treatment plan that may include:

  • Chiropractic adjustments to the elbow, wrist, and cervical spine to restore proper joint mechanics and reduce nerve irritation

  • Graston Technique to break down scar tissue and tendon adhesions in lateral and medial epicondylitis, one of the most effective manual approaches for these conditions

  • Shockwave therapy to stimulate healing in chronically degenerated tendons that have stopped responding to other treatment

  • Cupping therapy to improve circulation and decompress restricted soft tissue around the elbow and forearm

  • Therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation to restore forearm strength, correct grip mechanics, and address the loading patterns that contributed to the injury

Tennis Elbow and Golfer's Elbow

These two conditions deserve special mention because they are so common and so frequently undertreated. Most people try rest, ice, and over-the-counter anti-inflammatories, get temporary relief, and then find the pain returns as soon as they go back to their normal activities. That cycle happens because the underlying tendon degeneration was never actually addressed.

The combination of Graston Technique and shockwave therapy that Dr. Kadri uses for these conditions is specifically designed to break that cycle. Graston addresses the soft tissue adhesions and restrictions in the tendon directly, while shockwave stimulates the biological healing response in tissue that has become chronically degenerated. Most patients with tennis or golfer's elbow see meaningful improvement within a few sessions.
